Dear Friends,

In November 2011, The Falls Church in Falls Church, Virginia, invited David and I to conduct a weekend conference. They asked that we do training workshops on praying for healing with a lab to include sending the participants out into the surrounding community to pray with strangers they would encounter, concluding with a healing service on Sunday evening. I want to share with you some of the amazing testimonies from that weekend.

Brain Injury- Melissa came to the conference in a neck brace in severe pain. This is her story. “On Oct 20, four days after running up a flight of stairs, tripping and hitting my right temple on the edge of a door (with full force!), passing out and ending up in the hospital- I was told I would need spinal surgery and possibly brain surgery to correct all of the damage that had taken place. I was given steroids to reduce the swelling in my brain but was making very slow progress in my recovery due to several factors (severe concussion, spinal damage and an unknown- pre-existing chiari malformation in my brain). After coming to a night of healing prayer and the Mike Evans prayer conference my recovery took a very rapid turn for the better. Each week since, I have become so much better, stronger and "clearer" that even the nurses in the office were literally clapping their hands to their face saying, ‘We don't believe it!’ My neurosurgeon said, ‘It’s a miracle-no surgery needed!’ It is hard to believe that just a few weeks ago I could hardly walk a straight line and was not able to drive. My doctor said originally to expect a 6-8 month recovery from just the concussion, mine has been in about five weeks!”

Then there was the Jewish salesman at the mall who allowed a prayer team to lay hands on him and to pray for the pain in his neck, initially to give him more of an opportunity to make his sales pitch. But who was healed and whose Jewish colleague from another kiosk came forward for prayer for serious and long lasting neck, shoulder, and back pain resulting from a car accident. She too was instantly healed as the team prayed in the name of Jesus. She even asked them to return in the future so she could receive more prayer.

Jay and Eleni wrote this: “Mike testified about his first healing conference at TFC some four years before. He recounted how a mother brought her young daughter forward for prayer for what turned out to be flat feet. After a short prayer over the girl Jesus give the girl arches in both of her feet at that very moment completely healing the condition with a creative miracle! It was put on our hearts in that moment that we needed to find a way to get our 10-year-old daughter, whose feet have always been as flat as a duck, to the healing service. We were off to the side praying with other individuals as our daughter was up front receiving hands on prayer. When we returned home late that Sunday evening, my daughter asked as we were tucking her into bed –‘Do I still have flat feet?’ When we checked her feet we were stunned and shocked to find arches formed in both her feet!”

Red Hair- “A couple of Saturdays back, I found myself basically asking God for a sign that he was present in my work to launch something new inside a large bureaucracy. This is just as taxing as starting something afresh, and I was frankly weary.

 My son Rand and I were scheduled to lead that Saturday night’s worship and so we arrived at church around 4 pm. A few minutes before the service was scheduled to start, I was at the soundboard while my son was tuning his guitar. I watched as one of The Falls Church prayer ministers came into the sanctuary, which earlier that day had housed the Mike Evans Healing Conference. She made a beeline for my teenage son, and was soon praying for him.

“I worked my way back to them, wondering what was up. The prayer minister and another man whose name I didn’t catch had attended the conference. The afternoon portion sent them out into the streets looking for people for whom to pray, but not before praying to receive direction. When they came into the sanctuary after a fruitless afternoon, she saw the words she received manifest in my son. Red hair was what she heard. Red hair is what he has. Hence the beeline she made for him when she walked in... All day she’d been looking for someone with red hair, and there he was in the very place she’d left a few hours before. 

She asked him if there was anything for which he needed prayer, and he told her of the 1” difference in leg lengths caused by a tick bite on his growth plate some years before. We’d been to healing prayer for that, as well as to doctors. The prayer led me to believe that we would see healing, but it would be a miracle of small bites, improvements made over time, not delivered in a dramatic I watched my leg grow scene.

“The medical approach was pretty straightforward – and discouraging. The doctors said they could wait until he was almost done growing, then put a screw in the other growth plate (ouch!) OR wait until he was done growing and then do a “leg lengthening.” He was resigned to a life of shoe lifts and back pain. Earlier this fall, his pediatrician noticed that his back and hips seemed much more even, and indeed they were. He took the lifts out of his shoes, and though still present his back pain was reduced. It seemed like the miracle of small bites had in fact happened, but when the prayer minister laid her hands on his legs and began to pray both of them had a bit of a shock. They both felt something stretch in his leg, and my son said Funny, but my back just stopped hurting.

“Two things happened in that moment: First, my son’s condition had been resolved clearly and definitively. Second, because the prayer minister had been looking all that day for red hair, I knew that my earlier request for a sign of encouragement and involvement had just been granted. It was God saying to me... Yes, I am present with you. If I can send her looking for someone with red hair, and make sure the worship schedule had you in church that afternoon, and complete the healing process I had already started, then I can manage the situation you are in too.”
